Director of Internal Audit

Mark ScottMark Scott is the Director of Internal Audit. He reports to the Chairman and Commissioners and is responsible under their direction for conducting the TFC annual audit plan.

Mark leads an audit staff of dedicated professionals and, with their technical expertise and teamwork spirit, his department provides the Commission with tools for effective policy making decisions for reducing risk and protecting agency assets.

TFC’s extensive scope of work includes managing, constructing and maintaining billions of dollars of State assets. TFC currently manages approximately 125 facility design and construction projects worth over $500 million, maintains and operates 134 state-owned office buildings, facilities and properties, and manages a lease portfolio of approximately 1,100 leases worth over $117 million.

Mark’s goal is to ensure his department's work ultimately translates to helping make the agency a great one to work for and to do business with throughout Texas. Mark came to TBPC in 2005 with a wealth of audit management experience. He was Director of Internal Audit for the Texas Department of Health from 2000 through 2004 where he directed audits of Medicaid and other health and human services programs.

He was manager of federal grant auditing at the TDH from 1995 to 1999 and he also worked in private industry in the areas of accounting and financial management. His work experience also includes financial and operational auditing. His education includes a B.A. degree from Southwestern University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Texas Tech University.

He is also a Certified Public Accountant. Mark says that he was excited when he learned of the opportunity to work with the outstanding group of business experts and community leaders at TFC.
