Shyra Darr
Director of Administration
Shyra Darr serves as the Director of Administration of the Texas Facilities Commission. She brings extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of public policy, management and administration to the position. Her key responsibilities include directing the agency's human resources division and intergovernmental relations. She also acts on behalf of the Executive Director on a broad array of agency-wide issues.
In addition to working in the private sector, Shyra has a public service career spanning more than thirty years encompassing municipal, county, state and federal positions. Prior to joining TFC in 2010, she served for ten years as Chief of Staff & Legislative Director for Rep. Keel in the Texas House of Representatives. She thereafter served for one year as the Director of Administration for the Speaker of the House and also worked for the Texas Legislative Council.
Before beginning her service in state government, Shyra served for six years as Director of the Travis County Public Improvements and Transportation Department, where she was responsible for consolidating the county's public works, transportation and natural resources functions and managing a diverse workforce of 350 employees. During her career, she has successfully developed and implemented strategic planning initiatives, comprehensive project management systems, performance audits and activity-based cost systems that have resulted in measurable gains in productivity, operational efficiencies and cost savings.
