Commissioner Virginia I. Hermosa of Austin was appointed by Governor Rick Perry in 2008 and reappointed by Governor Perry in 2009 for a term to expire January 31, 2015. Commissioner Hermosa is an attorney with the Hermosa Law Firm in Austin, representing clients in civil and criminal litigation. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas, and later graduated from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio.
Prior to her service on the Commission, Commissioner Hermosa served as Deputy Division Chief of the Special Crimes Division in the Texas Attorney General’s Office from 1998 until 2003. In 1999, Commissioner Hermosa was appointed as liaison to the 4 Mexican States that border Texas, Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, and Chihuahua, by the Border Solutions Committee of the Auto Theft Prevention Authority of the Texas Department of Transportation. She has received numerous recognitions for her interstate work including recognition by the El Paso Police Department, the Nuevo Leon Attorney General’s Office, and the Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office. Commissioner Hermosa is currently serving as Vice Chair of the Commission.

The Texas Facilities Commission consists of seven board members. Three members are appointed by the governor, two additional members appointed by the governor from a list of nominees submitted by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and two members appointed by the lieutenant governor. Executive Director Terry Keel manages the day-to-day business of the Commission, employs staff and fulfills duties and responsibilities assigned by law or delegated by TFC.
